Robert Porter Jackson has been sworn in as the new United States (US) Ambassador to Ghana. This was contained in a press release from the Public Affairs Section of the Embassy on January 13, 2016 and signed by Sara Veldhuizen Stealy, an Information Officer. The Oath was administered by the Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Linda Thomas –Greenfield.
Ghana is among 56 countries in the world that have taken about 680 detainees that were transferred from the Guantanamo Bay, following the decision of the American government to close the camp that has become a blot on the latter's human rights record.
