Mr. Stpehen Asamoah Boateng

Stephen Asamoah-Boateng, 48 years, is the Minister for Information and National Orientation. He is also an elected member of parliament for the Mfantseman West Constituency in the Central Region. He is a product of the University of Ghana and has also obtained a Masters degree in business Administration from one of the leading European Management Schools, Henley Management College in Oxfordshire, UK. He lived in the United Kingdom for nearly 18 years where he worked for a leading pharmaceutical company, Pfizer and also as a consultant to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in the UK providing support to small and medium-sized businesses at Business Link a business support service at DTI.

 

Highly experienced professional with extensive skills and knowledge in managing business, his experiences cover areas such as strategic and financial planning and project management. He has also performed roles that include strategic marketing, budgetary control and process re-engineering.

He has developed highly analytical and decision-making skills. Asabee as he is popularly known, is politically active with proven leadership skills. He has demonstrable leadership, creative, interpersonal and presentation skills. He is excellent in taking initiative and pursuing structured approach to problem solving. He is highly energetic and self-motivated person with outgoing personality and is very hardworking.

These qualities have seen him organized the most popular and successful Homecoming Summit, initiated and co-ordinated the national Economic Dialogue from which special projects such as the Unemployment registration exercise, National identification System, Long-term savings tied to retirement and the restructuring of the domestic debt all emerged.

He has also risen through the Ministerial ranks, first as the Deputy Minister for information. The President then moved him to the then position of Deputy Minister for Tourism and Modernization of the Capital City . He was elated to his current position in May 2006. His social activities include, meeting people and sharing information and ideas, exercising in the gym, playing tennis and listening to highlife, hip-life, classical and jazz music.
