Kapkpanduri Gets Nurses’ Quarters

A Dutch NGO, World Servants Netherlands has handed over a four unit semi-detached nurses’ quarters  to the Assemblies of God health centre at Nakpanduri in the Bunkprugu-Yunyoo district in the Northern Region.

At a handing over ceremony in Nakpanduri recently, the Community Infrastructure Development Coordinator of the Assemblies of God Relief and Development Services, AGREDS, Mr Stephen Abarika, said it had been the vision of World Servants Netherlands, WSN and AGREDS to contribute to quality health service delivery in Nakpanduri.

Mr Abarika noted that out of 45 building projects that WSN undertook throughout the country in 21 communities over the past 17 years, Nakpanduri alone had enjoyed three including the nurses  quarters all valued at GH ¢75000.

The coordinator said the infrastructural intervention over the years was targeted at increasing access to health care and utilisation of health services to improve the well-being of the people of Nakpanduri. He observed that the newly constructed nurses quarters would go a long to enhance the ability of the health centre to recruit and retain more human resource.

Mr Abarika used the occasion to advice students in health institutions to study diligently so as to be able to provide quality health services to the society after completion. He was also optimistic that stakeholders would implement health policies that would enhance service delivery especially in rural areas.

He disclosed that AGREDS in collaboration with WSN would put up a modern maternity block next year to cater for pregnant women in the district and asked the chiefs to readily release land for the project .

Handing over the building, the leader of WSN, Professor Arend Noordam expressed the hope that AGREDS would ensure the speedy completion and proper utilisation of the building.

The Bunkprugu-Yunyoo district director of health services, Hajia Adamu Yakubu in a speech called on the district assembly to provide incentives that would attract health workers to the area.
