NGO’s To Partner Media To Promote Healthy PracticesThe Ghana Coalition of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in Health last Tuesday said it was poised to build a strong and dynamic civil society umbrella organisation that would contribute to building a country free of diseases. Mr Charles Adjei Acquah, National Chairman of the coalition, has called on the media to partner it in reaching the underserved communities, vulnerable and marginalized in society. He said this at a press soiree in Accra to interact with the media to develop a strategy to educate the public on good health practices. He said the coalition was determined to positively influence health policies as well as practice and empower member organisations to ensure quality health for all, adding that the coalition, which was established in March 2000, had been dormant. He said the coalition was embarking on a serious advocacy and campaign for quality health care for all by leading other NGOs in that direction. Mr Acquah pleaded with all the other NGOs and civil society organisations to collaborate with the coalition in order to map up strategies to free the citizenry from ill health. Mr Solomon Commerade Onubuogu, vice chairman of the coalition also said it had realised the vital role the media was playing in the development of the country. He said the coalition, which had over 300 members was determined to collaborate with the media to assist the government push the health agenda forward. Source: GNA
