Political Parties Urged To Educate Their Supporters

The Chairman of the Ahafo-Ano North District Election Task Force, Chief Superintendent Mathew Osiew Adjei has urged all political party executives in the district to educate their supporters to maintain peace in the run up to the December 7 elections.

Mr Adjei was speaking at a meeting of the District Election Task Force and all political party executives at Tepa last Tuesday.

This follows last Monday's confrontation between the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and New patriotic Party (NPP) supporters at the last day of transfer of names of voters resulting in one casualty.

Mr Adjei warned that all political party executives in the district will be held responsible if another incidence of violence erupted.

Four political parties, NDC, NPP, People's National Convention (PNC) and the Conventions People's Party (CPP) pledged to maintain peace now and after the elections.

The District Task Force charged the Information Service Department (ISD) to continue their public education campaign on peaceful elections.
