The Information Services Department (ISD) in the Brong Ahafo region is set to disseminate information on the nationwide census of agriculture exercise that began last Monday.

This came to light at a final briefing exercise for staff of the Department in Sunyani. The Ag. Brong Ahafo Regional Information, Mr Imoro Ayibani Tebrah, said his outfit was ready to prepare the grounds for the enumeration in all 29 districts of the region, covering over 2000 communities.

He said the ISD would deploy cinema vans and community information centers in field campaigns as well as make visits to churches and mosques to ensure that that the requisite awareness was created for a successful exercise.

Mr Isaac Adjei Mensah, who deputized for the Brong Ahafo Regional Director of Agriculture, said the exercise would last for 90 continuous days and involve the listing of households and structures as well as the enumeration of eligible households and institutions.

Data, Mr Mensah said, would be collected on all actors in the agriculture value chain who would include producers, processors, marketers and service providers, while taking into account available equipment.

The Brong Ahafo Regional Statistician, Mr Amatus  Sonviele Nobabumah, charged staff of the ISD  to get the people to appreciate the importance of the exercise in order to get them to participate fully in it, adding that understanding the structure of agriculture would facilitate informed decision making.

Mr Nobabumah disclosed that a total of 552 field personnel had been deployed throughout the region for the exercise and that existing District Management Teams would be reactivated to support the exercise throughout the region.

He explained that in order to avoid impersonation, personnel had been provided with T shirts while his outfit was in the process of completing the production of identity cards to make them identifiable.
