John Mahama Wins 2012 Presidential Elections PDF Print E-mail

The Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Dr Kwadwo Afari Gyan has declared John Dramani Mahama ,Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as the winner of the 2012 Presidential Elections in Accra today.

President Mahama polled a total of 5,574,761 votes representing 50.70% whilst his closest contender Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) obtained 5,248,898 representing 47.74%.

The others are Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom of the Progressive People’s Party received 64,365 votes, Dr Henry Lartey of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) had a total vote of 38,223.

Mr Hassan Ayariga of the Prople’s National Convention (PNC) got 24,617, Dr Abu Sakara Foster of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) had 20,323 votes, Mr Isaac Osei Yeboah, the only independent candidate had 15,201 and Mr Akwasi Addai Odike of the United Front Party (UFP) had 8877 votes respectively.

Total valid votes cast -10,995,262

Total rejected Votes - 251, 720

Total votes cast – 1,1246,982

Total Constituencies – 275

Voter turnout – 79.43%
