The Deputy Minister, Honourable Nii Nortey Duah, received a Korean Delegation and assured them of government’s support for the Intergrated Water Management Programe which they will undertake in the Western Region. He was also grateful to the Korean government for the Small Scale Water Treatment Machine donated to the people of Jeffesi in the Sissala West District.  He commended the Korean Government for the development projects they have carried out in the country particularly in the water sector.

Pwalugu Water Project

The Deputy Minister, Honourable Nii Nortey Duah held discussions on 27th April, 2012  with a three member team from the World Bank on the expansion of the Pwalugu Water Project in the Upper East Region, to help support water delivery in the country.  The team called on Government to enhance collaboration with Burkina Faso to ensure the success of the project, especially in the Northern Sector.  The team was led by Mr Alessandro Paluieri, a dam specialist.

Wa Water Supply System

The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Kwabena Duffour, and the Korean Ambassador, H.E. Kyun Jea-Min, on hehalf of their governments, signed a $55.5 million water loan, which is to improve the Wa Water Supply System, was for a period of 40 years with an inclusive 10 years grace period.  The project, when completed would not only improve the existing water supply situation in Wa but also help eliminate the incidence of guinea-worm n the Municipality and beyond, as well as boost the socio-economic development of the area.

Guma Group Of Companies

A South African Company, known as GUMA Group of Companies and the Government of Ghana signed an agreement to construct 500 houses for the security services.  H. E. the Vice President, John Dramani Mahama witnessed the signing on 4th May, 2012.
