Reports On National Identification Registration Exercise PDF Print E-mail

The National Identification exercise which will register all Ghanaians who are six (6) years and above has started in the Techiman Municipality in the Brong Ahafo Region. It begun on 20th February 2012 and ended on 1st March 2012. The exercise was saddled with numerous challenges including very poor planning and organisation, faulty and breakdown of equipments in the field and inadequate operators to man the machines.

The challenges have resulted in long queues at the registration centers and frustration amongst prospective residents who wish to register.
Across the Techiman Municipality the story of frustration as a result inadequate operators, faulty equipment is a normal occurrence.

As a result of the numerous frustrations amongst the residents of the Techiman Municipality there were allegations that some registration officials are taking monies secretly to register some residents.
