PREAMBLE

WE, the youth of Africa gathered once again in Accra for the 4th African Youth and Governance (AYG) Conference anchored on the theme “Partnerships for Job Creation: A Wheel for Transformational Governance” were faced, a couple of weeks earlier, with an exceptional challenge of whether or not to hold the continental Conference in the wake of the sudden death of the President of Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Evans Atta Mills and the fact that the date for the Conference coincided with the dates of the funeral.

National Constitution Review Conference PDF Print E-mail

From Tuesday, the 1st to Saturday, the 15th of March, the National Constitution Review Conference was held at the Accra International Conference Centre. The theme for the conference was “The Constitution; Our Identity”.

This was the first time in the history of the country that 2996 Ghanaians met over the course of 5 days to deliberate on how to strengthen the operation of a subsisting constitution.

FOLLOWING NEGOTIATIONS HELD BETWEEN TEACHER UNIONS AND THE GOVERNMENT TEAM HELD AT THE MINISTRY OF EMPLOYMENT AND SOCIAL WELFARE ON FRIDAY 11TH MARCH, 2011

The negotiating parties were made up of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) and Teachers and Educational Workers’ Union (TEWU) of TUC on the one part and the Government Team made up of The Honourable Ministers of Finance and Economic Planning, Employment & Social Welfare, and Education, and the Ghana Education Service (GES), Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) on the other part.
