NANA CHAIRMAN,
HON. MINISTER OF INFORMATION AND MP, ABLEKUMA SOUTH,
MEMBER OF THE COUNCIL OF STATE,
COLLEAGUE MINISTERS OF STATE,
HON. MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT PRESENT,
HON. MUNICIPAL/DISTRICT CHIEF EXECUTIVES,
REPRESENTATIVES OF CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS,
NANANOM AND NANAHEMAA,
RELIGIOUS LEADERS,
MEMBERS OF THE SECURITY SERVICES,
DISTINGUISHED INVITED GUEST,
MEMBERS OF THE PRESS,
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:

I am indeed greatly honoured to represent the Chiefs and citizens of Brong Ahafo, to welcome all distinguished invited guest to this epic function and in particular, Hon. Minister for Information, Mr. Fritz Baffour, for personally joining the citizens of this region to officially open the Brong Ahafo Policy Fair under the theme: “Building Together in a Better Ghana.”

Nana chairman, colleague ministers, ladies and gentlemen:

As you are no doubt aware, the government of the NDC has initiated a process of accountable governance dubbed “The Policy Fair” as part of our democratic process. The programme, which began in Accra, was not limited to the national capital but decentralized to all the ten regional capitals of the country. This is ample evidence that this government does not intend to take the good people of this country for granted but to live up to its campaign promises as espoused in the manifesto of the party.

It is now the turn of the Brong Ahafo Region to demonstrate to the people of this region and the entire nation, the tangible and measureable achievements chalked by the NDC government within the 3 years administration of the party.

To achieve this purpose, Municipal and District Assemblies, as well as the Ministries, Departments and Agencies and the Private sector have mounted exhibition on programmes and projects embarked on within this period.

NANA CHAIRMAN, HON. MINISTER, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:

Numerous development projects and activities undertaken in this region will be given adequate publicity at this fair through various media such as pictures, brochures/flyers, power point presentation, video documentaries, as well as other exhibits, etc.

We have a good story to tell the people of this country and we want to use this platform to inform the people about what the government of the NDC has done for the Brong Ahafo Region. Nobody else will tell our story for us!

Furthermore, this platform affords us the opportunity to make good our social contract with the people in pursuit of transparency and openness as generally espoused by the NDC government as Social Democrats.

This Policy Fair is also an opportunity for District and Municipal Assemblies, as well as Ministries, Departments and Agencies to have fruitful interactions with the private sector and market their districts/ municipalities about the enormous investment opportunities in agri-business, agro processing, tourism and hospitality industry, as well as the manufacturing and service sectors.

I can assure you of a conducive investment climate facilitated by a serene and safe environment, accommodating and hospitable populace, as well as a land tenure system that supports large scale investment.

We therefore, want to use this opportunity to invite both internal and external investors to come and massively invest in our Region.

Nana chairman, colleague ministers, ladies and gentlemen:

Aside the exhibition, there are other equally important aspects of the fair and these include the dialogue sessions which seek to solicit expert opinions on some topical policy issues, with specific emphasis on the Brong Ahafo Region. Your contributions at the dialogue sessions would serve as important inputs into policy formulation and direction.

Let me emphasize that this programme is a serious business and not a fan fair.

I would, therefore like to use this opportunity to invite all Ghanaians especially students, the business community, youth groups, women groups, civil society organizations, researchers, development specialist, the various political parties, public service workers and our development partners to patronize the Brong Ahafo Regional Policy Fair so that we would together continue to build a Better Ghana.

NANA CHAIRMAN, MEMBER OF THE COUNCIL OF STATE, COLLEAGUE MINISTERS, NANANOM, DISTINGUISHED INVITED GUEST, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:

Once again, on behalf of the chiefs and people of this region, the Regional Co-ordinating Council and on my own behalf, I wish to welcome all of you and particularly the minister of information, Hon. Fritz Baffour, to this historic event.

Thank you and May God Bless us all.
