DIRECT-AID GHANA GIVES TO MUSLIMS COMMUNITIES

Direct -Aid Ghana, a non-governmental organization, has distributed items nationwide to Muslims as part of their religious social responsibility for the ongoing Ramadan.

 

The items, distributed over the weekend, included rice, oil, tomato paste, sugar and beans. In all eight Muslim communities in Accra were selected and 406 people benefitted from the distribution.

 

Sheikh Nuhu Shaributu, the National Chef Imam, who received the items on behalf of the Muslim communities, thanked Direct-Aid for their support and all organizations that had assisted Muslims in the Ramadan period.

 

Ahmed Sheikh Abdul Brahman Omar, Director of the Direct-Aid Ghana, said the motivation behind the distribution was purely religious. According to him, Ramadan is a month of given to the needy and assisting the vulnerable in the society.

 

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, and is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting to commemorate the first revelation of the Quran to Muhammad.
