MPC MAINTAINS POLICY RATE AT 26 PER CENT

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Bank of Ghana (BoG) has decided to maintain the monetary policy rate at 26 per cent.

Dr Henry Kofi Akpenamawu Wampah, Governor, BoG, made this known at a news conference in Accra, yesterday, after the 69th   regular meeting of the MPC.

Dr Wampah explained that MPC’s decision to maintain the policy rate was based upon a critical assessment of current economic conditions and the risks to inflation and growth outlook, adding that the current monetary policy stance, together with fiscal consolidation, would help bring inflation further down.

He pledged the commitment of MPC to the continued monitoring of   developments in the economy and to taking further actions, if necessary, to ensure the attainment of its target within the forecast horizon.
