Producer Price Inflation for July soars

Between July 2015 and July 2016, the year-on-year Producer Price Inflation (PPI) was 10.3 per cent.


This figure represents a 2.7 percentage point increase in inflation in the 7.6 percentage point recorded in June last month.


The monthly change in the PPI between June and July 2016 was 0.9 per cent.


Addressing a section of journalists in Accra, yesterday, Government Statistician, Dr Philomina Nyarko,  said the utility sector recorded the highest year-on -year  inflation rate of 36.6 per cent followed by the mining and quarrying sub-sector  with 30.4 per cent.


On manufacturing, Dr Nyarko said, the sub-sector recorded the lowest year-on-year inflation rate of 1.0 per cent while mining and quarrying recorded the highest monthly change rate of 6.4 per cent, with the utilities subsector recording a 0.1 per cent increase in the PPI.
