The 2017/18 batch of National Service Personnel at the Information Services Department (ISD) has been taken through an orientation programme.

Addressing the service persons, Ms Elizabeth Afua Essel, Acting Director, ISD, urged them to take their work seriously as it marked their journey into the world of work.

Ms Essel took the personnel through the history of ISD from 1939 when it was established to disseminate information on the progress of World War II.

She said the Department had since undergone many changes from its status as a Public Relations Department in 1948 to the current status of Information Services Department, whose core mandate was to disseminate and educate the public, and the world at large, about government policies.

In his remarks, Mr Charlse Wereko, Deputy Director, Finance and Administration Division, ISD, urged the service personnel to adopt good work ethics and seize the opportunity to be very proactive and industrious in their various roles.

As part of the orientation, Mrs Doris Yamoah, Deputy Director, Publishing Division, ISD took persons through a familiarization tour of the Department.

The service persons visited the IT, Operations, Marketing, Public Relations, Finance and Administration, Publishing and the Internal Audit Divisions, among others.
