The first, second and third winners of a quiz competition will enjoy the privilege of travelling to India to support the Black Starlets in the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) Under-17 Tournament.


Two winners, Chijioke Immaculate and Isaac Yanney, have been offered a Return Air Ticket and a visa processing fee in addition to a US $ 300 spending money while the third prize winner received a cash equivalent to US100.

Mr Godwin Avenorgbo, Director of Communications, Melcom Group, who announced this on Friday, disclosed that out of the more than four hundred contestants of the quiz competition, twenty were shortlisted for the finals with thirteen showing up.


Mr Avenorgbo said the competition revealed that Ghanaians had a highly appreciable knowledge about global sporting events.


He expressed gratitude to the Mr Richmond Eduro, Executive Officer (CEO) of Ocean Television (OTV) Broadcasting Ltd. for his commitment to the cause by mooting the idea, creating the concept and for ensuring that the competition was organized.


The 17th edition of the FIFA U-17 World Cup— the biennial international men's youth football championship contested by the U-17 national teams of the member associations of FIFA— will come off this month.


The tournament will be hosted by India— the first FIFA tournament hosted by the country— between 6th and 28th of October 2017.


At a send-off reception organized by the India High Commission for 25 players of the Black Starlets, Ghana’s football team, the Melcom Group pledged to support the tournament with three air tickets and hotel accommodation for the three beneficiaries of the tickets.


A quiz competition was, therefore, organized by the Melcom Group in collaboration OTV Broadcasting Ltd. to select the ticket beneficiaries.
