GHANA EXPORT PROMOTION AUTHORITY LAUNCHES MARKET HUB

The Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) has launched its new Trade Information Portal (Export Model) dubbed: the Ghana Market Hub to help guide producers and exporters to do business with accredited and registered companies licensed to engage in exports.

 

As a response to the information needs of businesses in Ghana and abroad, the digital market hub provides the platform for real time collection and disseminating of trade information to assist businesses make strategic decisions.

 

The primary objective of the Ghana Market Hub is to ensure that goods and services emanating from or traded in Ghana are designed, manufactured and supplied in a sustainable manner that conforms to market requirements as well as those of the regulatory authorities in the local and export markets.

 

Export trade information available on the Market Hub include specific information on market trends, global export competitiveness, product specific performance in destination markets and time series data on exports from Ghana.

 

It is expected that with the operation of this market hub, GEPA’s role as the national trade promotion organization will be greatly improved.

 

The portal, facilitated by the Trade Capacity Building (TCB) Programme for Ghana, is a project being implemented by the United Nations International Development Organization (UNIDO) with funding from the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).

 

in a keynote address delivered on his behalf at the launch, Mr Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng, Minister for Trade  & Industry, urged GEPA to ensure that the market hub was functional while pledging the ministry’s full support in ensuring the viability and sustainability of the portal.

 

Welcoming participants to the launch, Ms Gifty Klenam, Chief Executive Officer, GEPA, said visibility on export information and opportunities in Ghana was required in order to be able to meet the US $ 10 billion export growth target.

 

Mad. Klenam said the Ghana Market Hub was, therefore, yet another step in GEPA’s journey towards transformation and growth.
