The Association of Pusiga People in the United States of America (APPUSA) has donated 100 dual desks to the Pusiga District Education office in the Upper East Region for delivery to the Model Girls Junior High School.


Mr John Assibi, a representative of APPUSA, in a brief remarks at the handing-over ceremony, said the donation was an effort to support in the development of the Pusiga District and entreated the District Education Office to take proper care of the furniture.


Mr Assibi pleaded with parents to take the education of theirs wards seriously and advised the pupils to study hard and become responsible citizens in future.


Mr Cosmos Yeledour, District Education Director, expressed appreciation for the kind gesture and urged other stakeholders to emulate the good example of APPUSA.


Mr Yeledour gave the assurance that the furniture would be put to good use and handled with care.


In a statement, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Abdulai Zubeiru, highly commended APPUSA for their immense support to the District’s development in various capacities.


Hon. Zubeiru recalled that in 2015 the association provided sets of jerseys and footballs to the youth and 100 benches to health facilities in the District.


He disclosed that plans were far advanced for the construction of a school complex for the Model Girls Junior High School which, he said, would include facilities such as a computer laboratory and hostel facility to accommodate the pupils commuting from far distances.


The occasion was well attended by representatives from the Pusiga District Assembly, District Education Directorate, Assembly Men, Head Teachers, Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Executives, pupils and the general public.
