A 3/6 classroom block has been constructed by Pencils of Promise, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) at Kadjebi in the Volta Region.

The initiative is to improve the educational infrastructure and access to quality education in the area, including Poase-Cement and Dodi_Mempeasem who are among the over one hundred schools that have benefited from the NGO over the years.

According to Mr Anthony Quashigah, Country Director, Pencils of Promise, the organization had taken it upon itself to lessen the burden of government by providing the necessary logistics to schools in remote areas.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Hon. Kofi Asiedu, District Chief Executive Officer (DCE), Kadjedi, noted that school infrastructure alone could not solve the problems and needs of the school, and that reading materials were also urgently required to help the school children to improve upon the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results in the region.

Madam Grace Bonuedi, Director, Ghana Education Service, expressed gratitude for the kind gesture and pleaded with parents to support the work of teachers by helping their wards to concentrate on their studies to enhance their academic performance.
