French Ambassador Visits Dzita V/R

The French Ambassador Hon Frederic Clcavier has paid a courtesy call on the chiefs and people of Dzita and Agbledomi. The French Ambassador and his entourage arrived at Dzita E.P Basic School amidst drumming and singing displayed by the school children of the area to welcome them.

 

A short ceremony was held in honor of the Ambassador who was also accompanied by the former Security Advisor to the president, Hon. Brigadier General Mensah Nunoo.  The main purpose of the visit of the Ambassador Frederic Clavier was to help the people of Dzita to rebuild a – 3 classroom unit block which was destroyed by the effect of sea erosion.

In his speech, the Ambassador assured the chiefs and people of the community his willingness to build 6 classroom unit blocks with computer laboratory to replace the dilapidated structure for the pupils. He said he saw that the pupils in the area had a lot of potentials in them which needed to be developed. This project would cost the French Government over 2 million dollars.

Frederic Clavier further promised the people of the community that he would do his best to develop the area and invest in the area’s aqua – culture projects and tourism since the area had great potential in tourism.

In an interview with the municipal information officer, he said he appreciated the rich culture exhibited by the pupils and students of Dzita and Agbledomi and urged them to preserve it. 

He had also promised to institute scholarship scheme for students in the area who might qualify for tertiary education. 

 

In his welcome address, Torgbui Hatsu II one of the chiefs in the area thanked the Ambassador for his kind gesture and also appealed that he should use his good offices to help the Government construct Sea Defence wall at the area to save the school block and the people of the area. Togbui Hatsu further stated that though the Ghana Government has started the construction of the sea defence wall at Atorkor which would be extended to Dzita, the work was slow and the sea was very close to the school poising a lot of danger to pupils and the whole community as well hence the call for immediate assistance to arrest the fortunate situation.

Present at the occasion were Togbui Awlavi III, Bishop King Akpalu of Good News Church, Accra, Mr. Edwin Nyaglama, Dzita Development Association Chairman, Mr. C. K. Kpedor Retired educationalist and the two Hon. Assembly Members: Dedzo  Brass and Gabriel Ahainyo of Dizta and Agbledomi electoral areas respectively.

The people entertained the French Ambassador and his team with drumming and dancing through the principal streets of Dizta and Agbledomi townships.
