Limited Registration Exercise Starts In South Tongu District V/R

The Nationwide Voters’ Registration Exercise has started in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region.

The exercise is a limited one for people who have turned eighteen (18) years and those who could not register during the last registration exercise in 2012.

The District Electoral Office has deployed 240 temporal staff to undertake the exercise in all the 40 electoral areas in the District.

A visit to some of the registration centres revealed a low turnout and it was only the National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party agents that were represented at these centres.

The District Electoral Officer, Mr. Joseph Kodua disclosed that the exercise was peaceful with no report of disturbances. He was optimistic that turnout would pick during the subsequent days.

He said the registration officials were given enough training to ensure excellent delivery.

The Chairman of Electoral Commission Dr. Kojo Afari Djan who is also the Commission Member responsible for Volta and Ashanti Regions was in the District to ensure that the exercise was on course.
