As it is done annually in honour of senior citizens in the country on every July 1, in recognition of their sacrifices and dedication towards the development of the country, this year was no exception.

Senior citizens in the Tain District of the Brong Ahafo Region were hosted by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Lawyer Charity Akua Foriwaa Dwommoh, at her residence.

Lawyer Dwommoh urged the citizenry not to see the occasion as a mere merry making, but an opportunity for the present generation to have a sober reflection on the struggles and sacrifices made by the forebears in achieving state sovereignty for the nation.

The DCE said the occasion afforded the opportunity to acknowledge the legends in the communities who had made and continue to make positive contributions towards the development of the nation.

She assured the senior citizens about the readiness of the Assembly to tap their experiences for the development of the District.

During an open forum, some of the Senior Citizens said it was time for parents to invest more in the education of their wards and avoid using their resources on things that would bring no benefit to their families and the society.

They also urged the children to study hard and avoid all forms of social vices.
