Govt To Fulfill All Promises

The maiden National Policy Summit, organized under the auspices of the Ministry of information, has ended in Accra.

 

The two-day Summit, which is on the theme: ‘Building a partnership for growth and development’, seeks to, among other things, provide a platform for Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) deeply articulate policies and programmes to target stakeholders and the general public.

 

Addressing participants at the opening of the Summit on Monday, the Vice President, Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, pledged government’s determination to execute all promises it made during the run-up to the 2016 general elections, adding that the promises were not to win votes but to be pursue them holistically.

 

Dr. Bawumia maintained that top on the agenda of the Akuffo-Addo administration was to provide jobs and create wealth for all the citizenry, irrespective of one’s ethnic group.

 

He said in pursuit of government’s agenda, the critical elements to pursue were to ensure that there was total transformation, maintaining and sustaining macro-economic stability, tackling fiscal deficit and creating a period where inflation and interest rates were sustainably low.

 

The Vice President underscored the importance of the role of the private sector in national development, saying “everything in terms of growth must be underpinned by the private sector and in doing so, the country must create a very friendly private sector management system.”

 

He reiterated the need to decongest the Ports to ensure efficiency by adopting automation while ensuring that there was less human interference as practiced in some countries.

 

He disclosed that government would formalise the economy by introducing the National Indemnification Card, digital address and the inter-operability systems, amongst others.

 

On his part, the Minister of information, Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, said government’s mission was to get everybody on board in running the affairs of the state.

 

According to him, the Policy Summit was one of such platform for government to solicit for ideas while making hers known for a better Ghana.
