The computers were made available by the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology and rLG Communications Limited. The beneficiary students were from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Islamic SHS, Nurses and Midwifery Training School at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), University of Education-Kumasi Campus and Garden City University College. The Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Ms Sherry Ayittey, who made the presentations aid the objective was to help enhance the teaching and learning of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at the various levels of education. Dr Kwaku Agyemang-Mensah, Ashanti Regional Minister, said the government would ensure that the youth were not left behind by globalization and would continue to work in partnership with the private sector to improve access to ICT education. Mr Joseph Kwabena Onyinah, the Regional Director of Education, said ICT was a major subject of study in all schools and there was the need to increase access to the use of computers. It was on account of this that the collaboration between the Education and the Environment, Science and Technology Ministries needed to be hailed and strengthened, he added. Mr Thomas Adda, Ashanti Regional Manager of the rLG, said the company was determined to partner the government to create opportunities for young people. Source: The Ghanaian Times
