Government justifies new taxes for mining industry PDF Print E-mail

A tax policy advisor of the Ministry of Finance, Dr Edward Larbi-Siaw, has explained that the economic and social benefits provided by the mining sector did not match government’s expectations, hence its decision to review the industry’s taxes.

He said the lack of transparency, coupled with the need for incentives to reform the extractive industry’s value chain, had contributed to this state of affairs while environmental degradation resulting from operations of the industry remained a cost to the country.

Youth Network, a non- profit organization, has trained 22 volunteers selected from 12 non-governmental organizations (NGO) to undertake cross-continental projects.

Four countries, namely United Kingdom, Romania, Zimbabwe and Ghana, are the partners of t6he Youth Network Project.

First Phase Of Bui Power Project Comes On Stream Today PDF Print E-mail

It had been on the drawing board for many years but in 2008, the Kufuor administration took steps to begin the Bui Hydro Power Project.

Work began on the project located within a forest reserve and on the Black Volta that hitherto provided the vegetative cover and water for food crop farming and aquaculture for residents of the area.
