Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) announced yesterday that there will be a 30MW shortfall in power supply to consumers in Accra during peak time on Saturday, February 13 and Sunday, February 14, 2010.
The shortfall, which constitutes about eight per cent of the demand for Accra, was due to a planned outage on one of the three transmission lines supplying power from the main Tema switchyard to the Achimota substation.
These were contained in a statement signed by Mr. Albert Quainoo, Head of Public Relations at GRIDCo.It said the line is being taken out to provide a safe work environment for a contractor to replace some critical equipment at the switchyard as part of the development of the 330kV West African Power Pool Project.
