The shortfall, which constitutes about eight per cent of the demand for Accra, was due to a planned outage on one of the three transmission lines supplying power from the main Tema switchyard to the Achimota substation.
These were contained in a statement signed by Mr. Albert Quainoo, Head of Public Relations at GRIDCo. It said the line is being taken out to provide a safe work environment for a contractor to replace some critical equipment at the switchyard as part of the development of the 330kV West African Power Pool Project.
