Mr Ofosu-Ampofo was speaking at the opening of the 9th Quadrennial Delegates Conference of the Local Government Workers Union of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
The two-day meeting was attended by more than 500 delegates drawn from across the country. ‘Working in partnership with Local Government Service for improved service delivery’ was the theme for the conference.
'Mr Ofosu-Ampofo repeated the government’s determination to strengthen and deepen the decentralization policy to enhance good governance and enrich the nation’s democracy and said it was on account of this that 9,000 motorbikes had been distributed to assembly members nationwide. There are also plans to provide some assemblies with 200 vehicles and 50 computers to improve their operation.
