Rotary International President Visits Ghana PDF Print E-mail

Mr Sakuji Tanaka, President of Rotary International will pay an official working visit to the country from July 14- July 17.

President Tanaka has been a member of the Rotary Club of Yashio Japan for 37 years and has served Rotary at every level including district governor and training leader.

A statement issued in Accra yesterday by Mr Jeffrey Afful, Past President of Rotary Club of Ring Road Central, said, the President was the Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinator Member of the Polio Eradication Advocacy Task Force and Future Vision Committee.

It said during the three-day visit, Mr Tanaka would hold roundtables on peace with Rotaractors and Interactors at the Law Faculty Auditorium, University of Ghana and cut the sod for the construction of a vaccine cold room for the storage of various vaccines for immunisation programmes at the Adabraka Polyclinic.

According to the statement, the President will also pay a visit to the La Wireless Early Childhood Centre to inspect the project and donate books. “He will present the Charter for the 24th and newest Rotary club in Ghana to the Rotary Club of Accra Spintex Road,” it added. It said the President had asked all Rotarians to actively work for Peace Through Service.

He was chair of the 2009 Birmingham Convention Committee and Permanent Fund Committee for Japan, Rotary International Director and Rotary Foundation Trustee. He and his wife Kyoko Tanaka are Paul Harris Fellows, Benefactors and Major Donors to the Rotary Foundation.
