| Parliament Approves Funds For Polyclinics |

The amount which was approved by Parliament is expected to be used to implement the phase III of the polyclinics development project.
The facility is interest free, has a grace period of 7 years, a repayment period of 10 years, maturity period of 17 years, commmitment fee of 0.25% and a management fee of 0.50%. Moving the motion for the approval of the funds chairman of the finance committee said the committee was informed that there were huge service provision gap due to the absence of health facilities at the propose sites and that the situation poses a great health danger to the country. He intimated that major components of the projects includes civil works, installation of medical equipments and training of staff adding that facilities to be provided includes curative services. He said the committee noted that the project would help strengthen key interventions aimed at achieving the MDG four and five and has a potential of creating about 150 direct jobs to the people. The house also approved by resolution the waiver of VAT and taxes amounting to the Ghana Cedi equivalent of €1,785,856.00 on the equipment and materials to be imported under the loan facility.
