President John Mahama today appealed to Ghanaians to bury their differences and be more united as a departing gift for the Late President J.E.A. Mills.
"Late President Mills was humble, honest and peace loving, it will therefore be expedient for all Ghanaians to immortalize him by forging ahead for the development of Ghana."President Mahama who was reading a tribute to climax the burial service that preceded the late President's interment, added that President Mills would not be happy in his grave if Ghanaians continued to create social and political divisions. The programme was also attended by Presidents and Delegations from Togo, Sudan, France, Swaziland, Cote d'Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Mali, Sierra Leone, Benin, Guinea and Senegal among other nations.
President Mahama also cautioned Ghanaians against political antagonism, which he said could deepen the polarization of the country.
Instead, President Mahama called for unity that would continue to put Ghana's democratic credentials above her peers on the African Continent.
“President Mills was a man of God who abhorred political antagonism and we shall do him a lot of good if we avoid divisive tendencies in our political activities”
He also called for tolerance and asked Ghanaians to place premium on the saying that “Unity is Strength” to move the country forward in terms of growth and development.
