Members of Parliament (MPs) have expressed their heartfelt felicitations to the national under-20 soccer team, the Black Satellites for winning the Under-20 World Cup tournament.

They described the commitment, dedication, resilience and sacrifice by the players as extraordinary and urged all Ghanaians to emulate to enhance the nations development.

In a Statement read on the floor of the House by the Chairman for Select Committee for  Youth, Sports and Culture, Hon. Stephen Ackah echoed that the success chalked by the satellites should not be taken lightly because Ghana is the first African country to win the trophy since its inception in 1977.

He commended the technical and management team for their continuous support to the players as well as the government for fulfilling its promises. According to Hon. Ackah Ghanaians should use the victory of the satellite to unite themselves and forge ahead.

He asked Ghanaians to continue to pray for the senior national team to triumph in the 2010 world Cup tournament.

Contributing to the statement, MP for Atwima-Mponua and ranking member for youth and sports, Hon. Isaac Asiamah said the victory is a wakeup call to the nation that we need to invest in our local coaches to perform effectively.

He commended the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for coming out with a business plan for all the national teams.

Hon. Asiamah also reiterated the need for the government as a matter of urgency to provide motivational package for the players to boost their morale for other crucial tournaments.

The Minister for Interior and MP for Zebilla, Hon. Cletus Avoka entreated the GFA to use the opportunity to groom up the players of the various national teams to be disciplined so that they do not repeat certain needless blunders that occurred on the field during the tournament.

He added that Ghanaians should also use the victory of the satellites to unite themselves for national development.
