President John Dramani Mahama yesterday inaugurated a 16.8 million-dollar systems control centre constructed by the Ghana Grid Company at Kpone with the assurance to build a resilient power transmission in the coming years.

He said government was committed to ensuring adequate supply of the commodity that would enhance the rise in industrial activities to achieve government’s golden age of business goal.

UN Secretary-General Appoints Special Reps. To African Union And Cote D’ivoire PDF Print E-mail

United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon has appointed Mr Haile Menkerios of South Africa as the new Head of the United Nations Office to the African Union (UNOAU) and Special Representative to the African Union at the level of Under-Secretary-General.

While continuing his current assignment as Special Envoy for Sudan and South Sudan, Mr Menkerios will replace Zachary Muburi-Muita, who will complete his UNOAU assignment on 30th June, an official statement from the office of the Secretary General at the weekend in New York stated.

West Africans Attend Workshop On Mining PDF Print E-mail

A two-day capacity building workshop on the continental Africa Mining Vision (AMV) and the related ECOWAS Minerals Development Policy (EMDP) opened in Accra yesterday.

Forty representatives from civil society organisations, labour unions, women organisations, media and other stakeholders are attending the workshop, which is designed to expand and deepen participants’ understanding of the AMV and EMDP’s objectives and their implications.
