Mr Bernard Mornah, PNC General Secretary, over the weekend described the merger deal between the Convention People’s Party (CPP) and the Peoples National Convention (PNC) as the best yardstick to unite the Nkrumaist front. He noted that PNC was part of the Nkrumah heritage and legacy and therefore advocated for unity between the two parties in winning the 2012 General Elections. Mr Mornah said this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at Sekondi, on the occasion of the CPP national delegate congress held in the Western Region. He expressed the hope that the national executive of the CPP would be inspired by this merger deal and help move the Nkrumaist front to the next level. Expressing his views on the congress, Mr Mornah said he was impressed with the general turn out and effective organisation. “With the exit of the Nduom Factor, we did not expect the number of people we are seeing today, the jamboree alone is evident the CPP spirit is still high,” he said. The contest for the flagbearership of the CPP party was between Mr Bright Akwetey, an astute lawyer and Dr Abu Sakara, an agronomist. Source: GNA
