Mr George Gyabaah, Brong-Ahafo Regional Director of the Electoral Commission (EC) last Monday recommended the need for the Commission to register Ghanaians who turn18 years on yearly basis.
This he said would minimise the challenges encountered nationwide when the registration of eligible voters is done prior to a general election.

Mr Sarfo Katanka, Deputy Chairman of the Electoral Commission (EC) has said the on-going election review process is a normal procedure and not a response to matters pending in the court relating to December’s elections. He said with the introduction of new procedures such as the Biometric Verification Device (BVD), it was necessary for the elections to be reviewed to guide the EC on its future conduct of elections to ensure improvement and progress in the electoral system.

Mr Daniel Kwasi Ashiamah, 43, of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has won the Buem bye-election. He polled 9,366 votes representing 84.68 percent of the total valid ballots cast of 11,060 to beat four other contestants.
