The Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Mr Kwadwo Nyamekye Marfo , joined the Muslim community at the Sunyani Central Mosque last Friday to offer special prayers seeking Allah’s guidance, protection and prosperity on Ghana.
It was to offer appreciation and thanksgiving for how far God has brought the nation. The Special prayer was part of this year’s national week of prayer, fasting and thanksgiving activities marking Ghana’s 55th Independence Anniversary celebration. The Regional Chief Imam of the Brong Ahafo Alhaji Umar Abdul-Kadir prayed for peace, unity and reconciliation among the citizens. The occasion was graced by government delegation made up of the security personnel, some staff of the Regional Coordinating Council and the media, the Regional Minister, Mr Marfo was thankful to Allah for His blessings on Ghana. He said the prayer was meant to ask God for forgiveness and to protect Ghana from political upheavals that have the tendency to plunge the nation into chaos. Mr Marfo said it is necessary that Ghanaians forge ahead in unity to build a united nation and appealed to Ghanaians to co-exist peacefully to maintain the nation’s trademark as the symbol of hope for Africa. He also took the opportunity to educate the people on the biometric registration and urged all to actively take part when it begins. He warned against encouraging minors to register. He advised the youth, especially, those from the Zongo communities not to allow themselves to be used by greedy politicians to commit atrocities during the up-coming election. Source: ISD (Alan T.
