The Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Nii Ephraim, has handed over 2000 school uniforms from the Government to the Municipal directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES) for distribution to basic school pupils in the Municipality.

Handing over the uniforms at a ceremony in Winneba, in the Central region, Nii Ephraim said the uniforms are in fulfillment of promises made by the President John Evans Ata Mills during his electioneering campaign to give free uniforms and books to deprived school children when voted into power.

The MCE said in order to promote education, there is the need for parents and other stakeholders in education to contribute their quota to supplement what the government is offering.

He urged them to send their children to school and provide them with other social amenities, rather than spending their resources on trivial things.

Nii Ephraim said such contributions will go a long way to add value to holistic and quality education children need to become future useful leaders.

Mrs. Elizabeth Amoako-Enimil, Municipal Director of Education, thanked the government for the gesture and promised that they will be fairly distributed to the children when schools re-open.
