The 28th edition of National Farmers’ Day celebration has been scheduled for Abokobi in the Ga East Municipality, in the Greater Accra Region, on Friday, November 2.
The celebration that normally takes place on the first Friday of December every year, has to be rescheduled to pave way for the Presidential and Parliamentary elections on December 7, this year.
Mr Frank Siaw-Otu, Public Relations Officer, Ministry for Food and Agriculture (MOFA) in an interview with Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Accra yesterday, said the rescheduling of the event was a directive from President John Evans Atta Mills.
He said preparations for the celebration were underway and it would be launched next month. MOFA introduced the National Farmers' Day, observed as a statutory public holiday for the nation to honour its hard working farmers, who excelled in their contribution to improve the agricultural sector, with certificates and prizes.
