Alhaji Sanni Iddi, late Walensi MP
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Wulensi in the Northern Region, Alhaji Sanni Iddi is dead.
The legislator passed away late Monday night at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital after a short illness, Majority Leader Cletus Avoka confirmed to the Ghana News Agency in Accra yesterday.
Alhaji Iddi, an independent MP, who was in his third term in Parliament, was a former Deputy Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing from 2009 to early 2010, losing the position after a Cabinet reshuffle.
Mr Avoka said the family of the deceased informed him of his death yesterday morning, while the House would be informed officially later.
He said a statement would be read on the floor of Parliament either today, June 6, or Thursday, June 7 pending clearance from the Speaker.
“We take this opportunity to convey our deepest sympathy and condolences to the bereaved family. Alhaji Sanni was a respected and responsible Member of Parliament and his passing away would be a big blow to his constituents,” he said.
