The Upper East Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Mr. Paul Apanga has called on head teachers and circuit supervisors of basic schools in the Upper East to intensify their supervisory roles as well as vet lesson notes prepared by teachers in order to ensure that pupils are taught according to prescribed syllabi and the educational curriculum.

Contingents from the Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana Police Service, Ghana Revenue Authority –Customs Division, Ghana Fire Service, Prisons Service and school children held a parade at Bolgatanga to mark Ghana’s 56th independence anniversary.

Mr Edward Ayagle, Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), read as speech on behalf of the President and appealed to all Ghanaians to be more cautious by taking a firm stand against the misuse of water, electricity and other public services as solutions to the crises were addressed.

Some non-governmental organisations and civil society organisations in the Northern and Upper East regions have been educated on the social accountability platform for local governance performance project for them to contribute to the decentralisation concept.

Dr Esther Ofei-Aboagye Director of the Institute of Local Government Studies (ILGS), appealed to NGOs and civil society organisations to contribute to the new concept of the local governance policy intended at deepening local governance through appropriate social accountability to ensure value for money.
