| Buem Chiefs Call On Volta Regional Minister |

Chiefs from Buem traditional area in the Volta Region have paid a courtesy call on the Volta Regional Minister Hon. Henry Ford Kamel to welcome him as a son from the area to his new post.
The Chiefs were enthusiastic about the Minister, who is also the Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency and happens to be the second native of the area who had gained a political appointment after the late F.Y Asare who served under Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s administration. The leader of the delegation Nana Opraw Akuamoah XIII, Nifahene of Buem traditional area thanked President Mills for raising the image of Buem by appointing their son as a Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and subsequently Minister for the Volta region. He pledged the cooperation and support of the traditional area to the Minister adding that as fathers, they shall give him the necessary directions to ensure that he works to the progress of the region. He said like Oliver Twist, the area has more of equal competent personalities in the area that can hold similar positions and appealed to the President to cast his eyes to the area in his future appointments. The Volta Regional Minister Hon. Henry Ford Kamel thanked the Chiefs for recognizing the contributions of government in ensuring that the people of the area are duly rewarded for their commitments to the development of the country. He said gone were the days that people from the northern sector of the region bitterly complained of neglect when it came to political appointments adding that he was grateful to the President for appreciating his works and including him in his cabinet. He reiterated government’s efforts to bring development to the area mentioning Jasikan College of education, Okadjakrom Senior High Technical, Baglo Senior High Technical schools among others as institutions that have benefited from classroom and dormitory blocks under the NDC government. He said elimination of schools under trees, rural electrification project, the ongoing Eastern corridor road and the University of Health and allied Sciences are among the quantum of development projects that are currently ongoing in the region.
