The Volta Regional Minister, together with Heads of Departments and Staff of the Volta Regional Coordinating Council have observed a minute silence in memory the late President John Evans Atta Mills.
At exactly 14:15 hours, the exact time that the late President passed away on July 24th 2012, sirens sounded simultaneously as the ceremony was observed at the forecourt of the Council. The Regional Minister said the late President’s death hit the nation like a thunderstorm leaving all Ghanaians devastated. “We however take consolation in theoneness that we as a people are mourning his demise”he said. He said what is important was that the nation looks ahead and learns from his legacy of humility and simplicity and the decency he brought to the Presidency. He urged Ghanaians to ensure that their utterances portray unity and love for one another and also seek perfection in all that they do. The Regional Minister expressed gratitude to the people of the region for the love they continued to show and their spontaneous response to activities to mourn the late President. Meanwhile people from all walks of life including religious and traditional leaders, traders, students, among others, are trooping in their numbers to the Volta Regional Coordinating Council to sign the book of condolence in memory of the Late President.
