The Minister for the Interior has on the advice of the Volta Regional Security Council and by the Executive Instrument imposed a curfew on Hohoe Township and its surrounding areas with effect from Wednesday, June 20. A statement issued by Mr William K. Aboah, Minister for the Interior in Accra said the curfew hours are from 8:00pm to 5:00 am.

Kotokoli Chiefs in the country yesterday commended the Volta Regional House of Chiefs for taking steps to restore peace in Hohoe in the Volta Region. They described the intervention of the Regional House of Chiefs as timely and a “very important move”.

Mr Raymond Amanfu, Head of Banking Supervision at the Bank of Ghana (BOG), says the central bank’s strive to regulate the activities of ‘Susu’ thrift companies and other credit and loan firms is not meant to fleece them.
He said the policy, which is not new, is to protect their clients, as well as ensure that the companies are committed to their business.
