The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) is the Ministry charged with the development and growth of agriculture in the country with the exception of the Cocoa-Coffee and Forestry sector. Its primary roles are the formulation of appropriate agricultural policies, planning & co-ordination, monitoring and evaluation within the overall national economic development.
Objectives Of MOFA MOFA seeks to achieve the following objectives:
- Improve agriculture productivity, incomes and employment opportunities;
- Contribute effectively to balance of payments;
- Establish effective agriculture  industry linkages; and
- Promote balanced regional development.
The Structure Of MOFA In accordance with government policy of decentralisation, MOFA's current structure comprises of::
1.A National Secretariat made up of four line directorates
- Finance and Administration
- Policy Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Directorate
- Human Resource Development and Management
- Statistics, Research, Information and Public Relations
2. Technical Directorates:
- Crop Services
- Agriculture Extension Services
- Plant Protection and Regulatory Services
- Agricultural Engineering Services
- Animal Production
- Veterinary Services
- Fisheries
- Women in Food and Agricultural Development
3. Regional and District Directorates

4. Sub-vented Organisations.
The Ministry is responsible for four Sub-vented Organisations

- Ghana Irrigation Development Authority
