Mr Ernest Akobuor Debrah

Minister for Food & Agriculture

Mr Ernest Akobuor Debrah Mr Ernest Akobuor Debrah was born on June 3rd 1947 at Tanoso in the Brong Ahafo Region.
He had his Secondary Education at Sunyani Secondary School from 1961-1966. He later attended Ghana National College, Cape Coast in the Central Region where he successfully passed his Advanced Level certificate in 1968.

Between 1968 and 1972, Mr Debrah pursued a Bachelor of Science Degree course in Land Economy at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi and came out with Honours. In 1994, he had admission to Strathclyde Graduate Business School at the University of Strathclyde, Glassgow, UK where he pursued a Master of Business Administration programme, Management option, completing in 1995.

Mr Ernest Akobuor Debrah’s working career dates as far back as 1972. He was the Lands Officer at Lands Department, Sunyani with a responsibility of advising both Government and Quasi-Governmental Institutions in the Region.
He, however, spent the greater part of his working career (1977 -2000) with the Social Security Bank Ltd (SSB), now SG-SSB. He rose to the rank of Chief Manager before leaving the Bank in 2000.
From February 2001 to January 2004, he was appointed the Regional Minister for Brong Ahafo and later Regional Minister for the Northern Region.

The position he occupied until his appointment as the Minister for Food and Agriculture in February 2005.
Mr Debrah is a Fellow of Ghana Institute of Surveyors .He is married with five children.
