INTRODUCTION
We are the Lands Commission under the Ministry of Lands, Forestry and Mines of the Republic of Ghana.
VISION
To attain optimum efficiency and effectiveness in the administration and management of public and other lands through a robust land service delivery.
MISSION
To manage public lands effectively so as to ensure easy and secure access for all types of land uses and contribute to socio-economic development.
FUNCTIONS
• Allocation of public lands for use by individuals, private and state institutions and the management of such lands.
• Advising on and assisting in the execution of a comprehensive programme for the registration of title to land throughout the country.
• Providing land administration advisory services to public institutions and traditional authorities.
• Monitoring of all developments on public lands to ensure conformity with approved planning schemes and the prevention of encroachments.
• Executing concurrence and consents on all stool land transactions.
WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR
• Conducting public educational programmes to ensure awareness and understanding of the correct sequence of land development processes in Ghana.
• Provision of land search reports to the public, Town and Country Planning Department (T&CPD) and the Land Title Registry (LTR).
• Assessment and collection of ground rents on state and vested lands.
• Management of Deeds Registry records.
• Provision of consultancy services to the public.
• Resolution of land disputes through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms where appropriate.

INFORMATION TRANSPARENCY AND CONVENIENCE
To facilitate information flow to our customers, the Lands Commission shall:
• Regularly provide up-to-date information on procedures for accessing the services of the Lands Commission
• Create a website and regularly up date it to serve clients
• Provide client friendly reception areas in our offices throughout the country
• Engage in public education and awareness creation programmes, embracing traditional rulers, land owners and civil society to inform them about land documentation processes
• Undertake annual client service monitoring and evaluation for enhanced service delivery.
COURTESY AND COOPERATION
• As part of measures to assist the public a picture board showing the members of staff and their designations has been placed at the main entrance of the Head Office and this will be replicated in the Regional Offices.
• A directional map indicating the location of offices is mounted at entrance of the Head office to help clients to easily locate the various offices within the premises of the Lands Commission.
• Comfortable waiting areas will be provided for clients.
• We shall ensure that Client Service Officers are well trained and friendly.
• Networking on land information sharing will be encouraged with other land sector agencies.
• Fees chargeable shall be displayed in conspicuous places at all Lands Commission premises and also in our service brochure.
OUR SERVICE STANDARDS
We promise maintain the standards in the table below:

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM THE PUBLIC
To assist the Lands Commission in performing its functions well, we expect the following from the public:
• Ensure that they deal with the Lands Commission staff with ID and avoid middlemen
• Follow procedures laid out in brochures available at the Clients’ Service Unit (CSU) and use the CSU whenever there are grievances to be settled.
• Inform the Lands Commission whenever there is a change of address.
• Deal with only the Lands Commission about state lands. However, in the case of stool lands, deal with the occupants of the stools and their principal elders.
• Obtain police report before applying for Certified True Copies of their documents lodged with the Commission.
• Effect payments on land only after ascertaining ownership by way of conducting public searches.

OTHER LAND SECTOR COLLABORATING AGENCIES
We collaborate with other land sector agencies namely:
The Survey Department – stores data on spatial maps and undertakes national land surveys, mapping and verification of survey maps
The Town and Country Planning Department – is responsible for the planning and management of development and growth of human settlements
The Land Valuation Board - stores data on land values and delivers valuation services to the state and the public
The Administrator of Stool Lands – collects and disburses stool land revenue for the various stools
The Land Title Registry – is responsible for the registration of titles and protection of interest in land throughout the country.
