President Accepts Resignation Of Cabinet MinistersPresident John Agyekum Kufuor met the Ministers of State aspiring to become the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party for the December 2008 Presidential Elections and accepted their resignation from his Government, "to take effect from the date of approval by Parliament of the Ministers designated by the President to replace them." This was contained in a release signed yesterday July 5 by Mr Kwadwo O. Mpiani, Chief of Staff and Minister for Presidential Affairs. The Ministers are Mr F.K. Owusu-Adjapong, Parliamentary Affairs, Mr Hackman Owusu-Agyeman, Water Resources, Works and Housing, Mr Alan Kyeremanten, Trade, Industry, Private Sector Development and Presidential Initiative. The rest are Prof. Aaron M. Oquaye, Communications, Dr Kwame Addo-Kufuor, Defence, Papa Owusu-Ankomah, Education, Science and Sports and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Foreign Affairs, Regional Co-operation and NEPAD. Mr Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, Minister for Tourism and Diasporan Relations was not present but he had tendered in his resignation earlier. The President thanked them and wished all of them well. He advised that the contest among them is within the family, and that they should all conduct themselves with civility, so that whoever wins will have the total support of the rest.
